The current discussion of Nordyke v. King misses the most significant point of the court's decision. Namely, that, regardless of what anti-gun advocates have tried to maintain, the Second Amendment applies, not only to the Federal Government, but to local and state governments as well. Secondly, this right preceeds the US Constitution. Finally, incidents like the recent Mumbai terrorist attacks illustrate why American citizens must be allowed to exercise their right to keep and to bear arms.
